Be without Do is not to Have

All around us we read that you can think and grow rich. But how
many have actually read the book and applied it to their life? If
you've read the book, you know it's not as easy as it sounds, is
it? If it was, everyone would be rich.

In this instant world of ours, everyone is trying for having it all,
without doing any of the work. It doesn't work.

Take instant coffee for example. Tastes horrible. How long would
it have taken you to brew a nice hot delicious pot of coffee? A
little bit of effort would have brought you greater rewards.

How about instant hot chocolate? Has your child ever tasted real
hot chocolate? Do you even remember what it tastes like? Give
your kid a real cup of hot chocolate and watch the look on their
face.

Instant is always lacking. Always.

How about instant weight loss? Lose a bunch - gain more back.
Health problems, even death. How about just learning to eat a
balanced diet and getting a little exercise? Wouldn't that be
easier and more beneficial in the long run?

How do you feel when you accomplish something? Pretty good,
right? You are not a robot. You have skills, talents, and self
esteem. The more you do, the better you feel about yourself -
and the more you want to do. It starts a positive success cycle.

So let's go back to the formula.

The correct formula is Be + Do = Have.

First you have to be the person who would have what it is you
want in life. You can't be a lazy schlep sitting in front of the TV
eating potato chips and become a thin trim millionaire. No matter
how much wishing and visioning you do, it most likely isn't going
to happen.

Sometimes growing into that person is a long painful process.
Why did Abraham have to wait until he was 80 years old to have
his child? Why did Cornel Sanders not reach success until he was
in his 70s? It took them that long to grow into who they needed
to be to reach the success they were after.

On the other hand, we have multitudes of people in their 20s,
seemingly easily making tons of money. What you don't realize
(and they probably don't either), is that they have been sitting
plucking away at those computers for years. It didn't seem like
work to them, they just liked doing it. They were just being who
they are, people who like to play (ie-work) on computers. But if
you try to duplicate their success, you have years of learning in
front of you.

Ah, another secret? Find something you really enjoy doing!
And then DO it.

Ok, let's recap. Be the person who would have what you want.
If you want to be fit and trim, then be the person who eats well
and exercises. If you want to be rich, be the person who works
hard, or has attained a vast amount of knowledge in a certain
area, or invests wisely.

And pick something you're interested in. It makes the journey
a lot more enjoyable and easier to stick with.

And the have? That just comes naturally.
